Problem: During a normal friendly game, which is usually played quickly, Fritz begins to have "endless" thinks when there is nothing more to think about. The long thinks usually occur after a piece sacrifice which the machine then rejects by simply refusing to make an obvious recapture thus basically giving away a piece. With a significantly worse position the computer then begins to calculate forever instead of playing quickly which is absolutely normal in friendly games.
Answer: The maximum thinking time is 5 minutes so as not to take forever. There are moves, however, which take more than 5 minutes. Even if the move takes so long, the program does not block it. The solution is to deactivate functions requiring extensive calculation. This includes options such as spy, sound, coach and 3D-board.
